About TEDI
The Technology Empowered Dementia Independence (TEDI) Network Plus brings together people living with dementia, families, researchers, designers, and care professionals to explore how technology can support independence and wellbeing.
Funded by UK Research and Innovation, TEDI connects communities and universities to co-create new ways of living well with dementia. Through our community hubs, visioning sessions, and innovation projects, we aim to shape technologies that reflect people’s lived experiences, challenge inequalities, and build a more inclusive future for dementia care.
TEDI Technology Domains
Our network activity is centred around four key domains. These focus our community engagements and frame areas of interest for our network members. These are also the subject areas in which we will fund our Innovation Projects.
Inequity
Addressing the unfair and avoidable differences in how dementia affects people's lives - taking an intersectional approach that recognises how identity, background, and systemic disadvantage shape who gets support and who gets left behind.
Independence
Using technology in ways that genuinely help people live well and independently - at home and in the world, able to take part in all the important parts of their own lives, commnuities, and society for as long as possible.
Innovation
Community-led approaches to technology education and design, building on shared opportunities and real-world needs.
Integration
Developing technologies that work with what people already use, and make everyday life simpler and more connected.
Innovation in the Community
Participation and involvement is as the heart of what we do. We work closely with members of the community, families, carers, and researchers to help light the way to technology futures for people living with dementia.
The Dementia Innovation Studio
The Dementia Innovation Studio is the creative heart of TEDI, where researchers, communities, and people with dementia co-design technologies and services that support independence and quality of life.
